Subtle signs of concussion

This entry was posted on Jan 19 2012

A concussion is a brain injury in which the brain is “concussed” inside of the skull from either a direct impact or a whiplash-type motion in which the brain is concussed through the accelerated motion of the head when the head is snapped forwards and/or backwards. The signs of concussion may be obvious or subtle. Signs of a serious problem include a headache that gets worse and/or increasing confusion.
A concussion may happen because of a fall, a motor vehicle crash, or a sports injury. If you’re having any symptoms, go to a doctor to get it checked out(if you hit your head). Concussions are especially dangerous in young athletes, who are susceptible to a rare but deadly condition called Second Impact Syndrome.
